Some common misconceptions will be introduced through a narrated photo-slideshow. Learning about inconspicuous, but important details when fully alive contributes to preparedness. By doing so, startling discov- eries during the raw, early period of bereavement can be averted, thereby avoiding the likelihood of “oh, no!” or “that-can’t-be-true” moments when making final arrange- ments for a loved one or afterward when confronting rebound effects.

Mary Ellen is an educator, author, and founder of Rochester’s popular Death Cafe, a forum for group discussions about death and mortality. Over the last 12 years, Mary Ellen has taught numerous courses on a wide range of death-related topics.
