Ska, the music that originated in late 1950s Jamaica, came from a fusion of Caribbean melodies and American rhythms, with an emphasis on the offbeat, known as the "skank". After the original wave of artists' music morphed into the slower, Motown-tinged style known as rocksteady, and eventually gave way to early reggae, a second onslaught of groups in 1970s England, made up of black and white members, known as the 2Tone movement emerged, eventually spreading to the US and then around the world.
The 2 newest bands to play SKA MUSIC in the Cleveland area, Es Ska Go! and NITE KLUB, are joining forces this October for a Halloween Eve dance party at SPOTLIGHT, called SKA-lloween!
Let us make you move your feet. Have a drink and a bite to eat. Dig the sound of this rocksteady beat, it's SKA-lloween in Cleveland!
