Sports Day: A Whole Different Ball Game
About this Event
As neurodivergent people, lots of us have grown up feeling isolated and left out. For many of us, this really knocked our confidence, making certain events like sports days feel incredibly intimating.
Since reception class all the way through to sixth form, I dreaded our annual sports days. I was clumsy, slower at processing information, and terrified of messing up and being laughed at. I know I’m not the only neurodivergent person who experienced this.
But if you take away the competitive nature and the judgmental audience and teammates, you’re left with what could be an incredibly fun event.
So now is our time to enjoy the day we used to despise, and heal some childhood trauma. This sports day is for neurodivergent people only, and the only objective is to have fun. From the sac race, to the egg and spoon, to stuck-in-the-mud and team games, there is lots of fun to be had and it is up to you which games you do and don’t want to participate in. None of the games will rely on any serious sporting ability and there will be no intimidating competitiveness.
I can’t wait to see you there!
