Spoon Wood Carving Workshop

Come to the Alcove and make a real wood spoon carving, all supplies provided, and you get to keep your very own spoon!

Workshops are recommended for people ages 16 and over. Children under 16 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children).

The workshop is admission by donation! Suggested $20 - $30 to support facilitator fees and supplies.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:

Carlos Roche, a multi-disciplinary artist including woodworking, painting, sculpting, plastic fabrication, epoxy, photography, amongst other things. If he is not creating something in his studio or garage, or working his 3 jobs in custom fabrication you can find him in the mountains either dirtbiking, hiking, or rock climbing. Carlos can also carve a pretty mean pumpkin, you should check out his Instagram page and check out some pumpkins!

Alcove Centre for the Arts (alcoveartscentre.ca) is a charity based in Calgary, AB which aims to make art more accessible and promote a vibrant local arts industry. We curate and cultivate community art spaces for Calgarians to engage in art and creativity while building a platform for emerging local artists. Alcove Centre for the Arts has two locations: Alcove Core and Alcove Beltline.

Alcove Core (244 7 Ave SW) is a Recreational Art Space open to the public providing free art supplies and instruments to stimulate creativity. The space also acts as a gathering place for workshops, community events, and social meetups. Come visit and get creative!

Alcove Beltline (1040 8 St SW) is a multi-use, flexible venue that is available to book for private or public events. If you are looking for an affordable space that has equipment rentals available, in a central location, for 75-100 people at a time, then this space may be a great fit for you!
