Spooky Winch Letter Hunt 2026
Get ready for some spooky family fun in Winchester this October! Spooky Winch is back for 2026, with a twist on our traditional Halloween trail.
📅 Saturday 17 October – Sunday 1 November 2026
📍 Winchester City Centre
🎟 FREE – open to all ages
This year, your mission is to explore Winchester and hunt down nine hidden letters displayed on coloured pumpkin signs in the windows of local businesses.
Follow the map, find all nine letters and then unscramble them to reveal a nine-letter spooky word!
How to take part:
Collect a FREE Spooky Winch trail sheet from the Visitor Information Centre, The Arc or Winchester City Museum from Saturday 17 October, or download a copy online.
Explore the nine areas of the city, find the pumpkin signs and record the hidden letters. Once you’ve solved the spooky word, return your completed trail sheet to one of the three collection points to receive a Halloween-themed treat and be entered into our prize draw to win a Halloween-inspired hamper!
Make a day of it and enjoy Winchester’s fantastic shops, cafés, restaurants and independent businesses as you explore. Fancy dress is very welcome too!
Share your spooky selfies and adventures by tagging @WinchesterBID and using #SpookyWinch.
Good luck, happy hunting and enjoy exploring Winchester this Halloween!
T&Cs apply. Completed trail sheets must be returned to the Visitor Information Centre, The Arc or Winchester City Museum to enter the prize draw. Please check individual venue opening times before travelling.
