Ahoy Mateys! You are invited to board the Leaky Sneaker for a special Spooky Town Books storytime with author Melinda Beatty in honor of her new picture book, WHAT IS A PIRATE? The storytime, geared towards 3+ but open to all ages, will be followed by a pirate-themed craft. Pirate costumes optional but encouraged! The event is free but please RSVP.

The crew aboard the Leaky Sneaker is filled with the piratey-est pirates ever to sail the seven seas. Which is why Captain Bogbrush has no idea what to do with Montague Frippington von Fancypants. Montague wears petticoats while sailing, takes pearl necklaces as booty, and politely plunders on raids. Pirates don't do that! Or can Montague help the captain understand that there is more to being a pirate than what he might believe?
Melinda Beatty…has had years of practice trying to explain to others why she was just having an imaginary conversation between two people that don't exist, so becoming a writer seemed like the best way to stop everyone from looking at her funny. After years of narrowboat living on the English canals, she and her British husband are now back on dry land in Maryland, where by day, she's a mild-mannered indie bookseller, and by night, she wrangles words, crafts projects, and raises a Labrador and two fierce miniwomen. Her past picture books include THE WITCH’S TABLE; TELL THE TRUTH, PANGOLIN; and THINGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE DAY.
