Join us at NUMU for a hands-on workshop where you will learn the basics to build your own papier-mâché mask just in time for the spooky season!

You will learn papier-mâché techniques and tips, explore materials, and create your own spooky or silly mask in this two-day workshop. 

Day one will be spent creating the form. Bring your ideas, as you have the opportunity to create anything you want under the guidance of artist Leyla Carleo. After the building, your mask will dry overnight at NUMU in our MakerSpace.

Day two will be spent painting and decorating.  You will leave with a completed and unique mask that can be both functional and decorative!  Invite a friend to sign up for even more fun.

All levels welcome and materials are provided. For all ages (16 & under must be accompanied by a ticketed adult).

About the Instructor

Leyla Carleo is a multi-disciplinary artist born and raised in Venezuela and based in San José, CA. She’s a designer and artist combining her multidisciplinary practices creating a varied body of work. Leyla makes an assortment of brown girls and characters, building her visual aesthetic by exploring hand-made techniques, like papier-mâché, preferring the texture of traditional mediums.

• Advanced registration is required. Sales will close the day prior to the event.
• Workshops start on time; please allow 30 minutes for parking.
• All workshops have a minimum sign-up requirement. If the participant minimum is not met, the workshop is subject for cancellation and NUMU will reach out to you directly with next steps.
• Tickets are non-refundable.
