Calling all aspiring poets, rappers, and storytellers! Unleash your inner wordsmith at our exciting Spoken Word Workshop for ages 12+
This interactive session will be facilitated by the talented duo of Luani Nansen, a DJ, spoken word poet and youth worker whose practice blends music, storytelling, and community connection, and Koko, a proud queer Pasifika poet from South Auckland and multi-talented performer.
In this workshop, you will:
• Explore different forms of spoken word expression
• Develop your creative voice
• Craft powerful and impactful pieces.
No prior experience is necessary! This is a welcoming space for anyone interested in exploring the power of the spoken word.
Light refreshments will be provided.
This workshop is suitable for ages 12+
About the poets:
- Luani Nansen is a South Auckland DJ, spoken word poet and youth worker whose practice blends music, storytelling, and community connection. Luani brings a strong grounding in creative facilitation. Their work centres on uplifting community voices and creating safe spaces for open, meaningful dialogue.
- Koko is a proud queer Pasifika poet hailing from the lands of Upolu, Samoa and Niue. They are born and raised in South Auckland and strive to use their poetry as a tool to uplift their communities. WTFL alumni and Grand Slam finalist, performing on stages across Tamaki Makaurau. Koko tells tales of being afakasi, the struggles of diaspora, navigating grief, and highlighting the joy of their people.
