Welcome to Spoken Rhythm & Soul ! Join us for an afternoon of poetry & spoken word at The Aurora Theater. Get ready for a Poetry Workshop experience with guided writing prompts and mindfulness, followed by an open mic featuring the talented artistry TOMMY DOMINO ( Author of Switches, Hot Wheel Tracks, and Extension Cords, World Stage Press) & LUCAS RIVERA (author of My AfroRican Taste of Soul, World Stage Press) who are known for the musicality in their works. Our host is RAVINA (Author of YELLOW, World Stage Press // Long Beach Best Poetry Collection Prize) Don't miss out on this opportunity to immerse yourself in the power of words, mindfulness, spoken word and rhythm.

About your host:


RAVINA alias "The Silent Assassin" is a South Asian American, bestselling author, spoken word poet & licensed therapist, based in Long Beach CA. RAVINA was born and raised in the U.S. Virgin Islands. YELLOW is her debut full length collection of poetry and prose published by World Stage Press & recipient of the Long Beach Best Poetry Collection of 2021.About the features :

RAVINA has performed poetry on nationally and internationally acclaimed stages including the House of Blues & the United Nations. Ravina is a touring and performing spoken word artist with the collective Never Speak Long Beach. RAVINA’s work as a poet has been featured in Yahoo Finance, the Sentinel news paper Los Angeles, Voyage LA, SHOUTOUT Atlanta, Rooted Minds, and Livewire’s literary journal at Fullerton College. Ravina is a Pushcart prize nominee & the first artist from the Virgin Islands to be pictured on a billboard for Clubhouse’s the Love Bomb Room’s one- year anniversary event in North Hollywood.

Ravina has taught poetry publishing through the University of Southern CA & Community Literature Initiative. In 2022, RAVINA founded the “Writing as Healing” workshop & mic, with the aim of shedding light on the intersection of creative writing and mental health, centering communities that have faced oppression, violence, and systemic issues. Ravina is currently completing a writing residency with Pocket MFA.

Tommy Domino “Alias Big Six”

Member of the Stillwater’s Writers Collective since(2012-Pres). Member of the Watts Writers Workshop II (2018-Pres). His book Switches, Hot Wheel Tracks & Extensions Cords was published by World Stage Press (2018) Member of the poetry collective Never Speak Long Beach who featured at The House of Blues, Anaheim (2022). Community Literature Initiative Teacher of the Year (2022) Teaches the Long Beach Poetry Cohort for the Community Literature Initiative (2020-Pres.) performed in the first episode of Slanguage on Urban Soul TV. His work has appeared in 8 poetry anthologies and 3 scheduled for release in 2024.

LUCAS RIVERA:

is a seasoned artist and innovative entertainment management executive with over two decades of senior leadership experience in shaping the arts and cultural landscape. His career began in North Philadelphia, where he dedicated nearly twenty years to serving the Latino community, educating and mentoring youth, fostering emerging talent, and curating influential festivals with Artist and Musicians of Latin America (AMLA). Transitioning to Los Angeles, Rivera's visionary leadership shone as the mastermind behind Grand Park, orchestrating over 550 events and spearheading the city's renowned New Year's Eve celebration, “NYELA,” drawing tens of thousands annually. As Founder and CEO of Sakul Creative, he drives innovation by leveraging his extensive network to create impactful experiences in event strategy, nonprofit management, and artist development, all rooted in community engagement. His transformative efforts also include NextFest, a pioneering platform showcasing over 1,000 musical talents across diverse genres. Rivera's distinct skill set, encompassing visual art, education, performance, and production, underscores his steadfast dedication to community enrichment, solidifying his influential position in the cultural landscape of the arts and entertainment industry.
