About us:

Spoken are a collective of change-makers who champion the power of creative and cultural expression as a catalyst for social action and positive change. The collective have been working tirelessly over the past year to facilitate opportunities for communities to engage with some of the biggest cultural, social and political conversations of our time. Spoken explores how we live together, it is driven by cultural exchange and uses the power of community organising and collective creativity to help generate better futures - both locally and further afield.

Event Description:

The Spoken Festival, in conjunction with the Markfield Road Festival, is a celebration of creativity in all its forms.

With the theme "Creativity is the greatest rebellion in existence," the festival aims to highlight the power of creative expression in driving social change and fostering community spirit.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with various art forms, from theatre and music to writing and visual arts.

The festival will also feature thought-provoking discussions, interactive workshops, and a diverse array of performances, all set against the backdrop of delicious Afro Caribbean cuisine and lively DJ sets. This event promises to be a dynamic and inspiring experience for all who attend.

• 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM: Spoken Creative Writing Sessions
• 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM: Community Theatre Play in collaboration with Black Art Productions
• 6:30 PM - 7:15 PM: African Drumming
• 7:30 PM: Spoken Panel Discussion on "The Role of Creativity in Social Change"
• 8:30 PM to late: Spoken Poetry + DJs

**OPEN MICERS**

Please sign your name on the list when you arrive from 19.30pm

You will have a 5 minute maximum slot to perform your poem - your name will also be entered into a draw to receive a free ticket to perform or attend our next event!

You will also have the possibility to meet the collective and find out about how to join our expanding group of artists to help you develop your artistry, receive support, and gain access to workshops to make the most out of your creativity moving forward.

**FEATURED ARTISTS**

All featured artist are PAID. You will receive one free ticket for a guest and a special concession price for any supporters/friends you would like to bring. All events will be recorded and you will receive a high quality performance video.
