Messiah’s annual Spiritual Growth Seminar is coming soon - on Saturday, May 30th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm! We’ll welcome Dr. Leopoldo Sánchez of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, presenting on the topic “The Holy Spirit and Spiritual Growth.” Through God’s means of grace, the Holy Spirit is sculpting you! Like the work of an artist who molds clay into its intended shape, the Spirit's work lies in shaping people into the image of Christ. Avoiding the false extremes of “all Spirit” or “no Spirit” found in American religion, Dr. Sánchez will unpack the role of God's Spirit in the life and mission of Jesus. We’ll also look at how the Spirit makes us holy – sanctifies us - from mulitple perspectives:
Renewal – Baptized into Death and Life
Struggle – Facing Evil through Prayer and Meditation
Sacrifice – Serving Our Neighbors in and as the Church
Hospitality – Welcoming the Stranger
Devotion – Working, Praying, Resting
Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. There is no charge for this Seminar (a freewill offering will be taken). We’re making arrangements for Dr. Sánchez’s book Sculptor Spirit to be available at a discount price through the Seminar.
