Spirit of Spring: Dancing through the Blossom | Classical Chinese Dance

On April 13 at St. John in the Village (218 W 11th St, New York, NY 10014), we are excited to present Spirit of Spring: Dancing through the Blossom, a uniquely enchanting performance by the Moonlight Classical Chinese Dance Group and musicians from the Chinese Music Ensemble from Smith College in Massachusetts.

Inspired by nature’s awakening, the performance blends flowing movement, rich melodies, and theatrical expression to honor the tradition and transformation of Chinese dance, music, and opera. Audiences will be captivated by dancers in exquisite traditional costumes, moving gracefully to the melodies played on Chinese traditional instruments.

A highlight of the performance is Tour of The Garden 游园, a scene inspired by Dream of the Red Chamber《红楼梦》that depicts the ladies in the Jia family gathering together to tour the Grandview Garden.
