Heritage Open Days event: Spire Appeal 'Side-by-Side' Open Day
Join the Friends of St John's Church Bromsgrove for a day of music, heritage craft skills and architecture.
Start the day at the Cake and Coffee Concert with Orchestra of St John at 10.30am on Saturday 20th September and enjoy homemade cakes with a drink in the company of fellow attendees. Afterwards, visitors can explore the building and churchyard, learn about the Spire Project and try their hand at the heritage craft skills used in the restoration project.
Inside the ancient church visitors can learn how the spire has remained as a landmark for the town for 500 years, with our Structural Engineer’s demonstration with a model of the church and a fan. Our Architect will talk through the technical drawings and plans to restore the spire.
Outside meet the stonemasons and heritage restoration team to learn about the materials and stone used in the project and have a go at carving a piece of stone and lime pointing.
The Friends team will be on hand to discuss the project. Refreshments are available all afternoon.
