On Saturday, August 10, 2024 we will be having our 9th Annual Spiny Lobsterfest, which benefits The West Palm Beach Fishing Club, from Noon-8pm, which attracts tons of our locals. Although Sailfish Marina hosts and sponsors many events throughout the year, Spiny Lobsterfest is the only event that is truly ours, which we are very proud of. Lobsterfest is a family friendly festival held on our event lawn, we feature 10 food stations serving spiny lobster different ways (along with Grouper Dogs, Conch Fritters and other tasty options), 40 local vendors, live music from: Friday @ Five (12:00-1:20), The Latitudes (2:00 – 3:20), The Smokin Aces
(4:00- 5:20), Bryce Allyn Band (6:00- 8:00pm) DJ Mike Locke (12-8), silent auction & raffle, tons of entertainment for the kids, and a “best lobster” pet costume contest.
Here is a little bit of information The West Palm Beach Fishing Club. The WPBFC has played a vital role in our community with their leadership in conservation, innovation and education since 1934. There are so many cool things about WPBFC, to name a few of our favorites…
They run the oldest sailfish tournament in the world, called The Silver Sailfish Derby which began in 1935 and is held at Sailfish Marina.
Another program they offer is taking under privileged children off-shore fishing, teaching them to rig baits and they come to Sailfish Marina afterwards for lunch. The majority of these children live within 5 miles from the ocean and have never been on a boat or touched a fishing rod, so it is amazing to watch their excitement in learning a healthy life-long hobby that they may not have had the opportunity to ever learn, and they each go home with their very own brand new fishing rod!
Last, they have created Florida’s deepest artificial reef to expand marine habitat offshore with “Reef Darts” right outside of the Lake Worth/ Palm Beach Inlet.
