The Listyning Room’s killer hi-fi and low-lighting offer the perfect setting to soak in The Sisters of Mercy 1987 album, ‘Floodland.’ More of a cohesive atmospheric piece than eight individual tracks - you’ll be taken in by in their irresistible Billboard-charting dance floor calls to action in ‘Dominion/Mother Russia’ and ‘This Corrosion’ - featuring the otherworldly accompaniment from the 40 voices of the New York Choral Society (the Jim Steinman touch). The Sister’s Andrew Eldritch’s plaintive vocal and spare instrumentation on’1959’ and ‘Flood I’ offer contrast to the album’s all-encompassing vast soundscapes with its keyboards, synthesizers, guitars, drum machine -‘Doktor Avalanche’ and Patricia Morrison’s bass guitar.
