Our spIN Focus Saturday afternoon event features a full play of Rickie Lee Jones' second album, Pirates. This record is a stunning blend of jazz, rock, and soul, showcasing Jones' unique vocal style and vivid storytelling. It's a true masterpiece of sophisticated pop music.
Released in 1981, Pirates is a cinematic album with lush arrangements and a cast of legendary musicians. We'll listen to the entire record, from the sprawling, evocative title track to the soulful "A Lucky Guy," allowing you to appreciate the intricate details that make it a timeless classic. Join us at The Listyning Room to experience this beautifully crafted album in all its glory.
The album will be played on The Listyning Room's world-class stereo system featuring high-end equipment by Audio Note, Klipsch, and Cambridge Audio.
There will be a brief introduction and then a full play through of the album. We open on Saturdays at 1:00 pm for Open Spin (BYO music) and record cleaning. The feature LP spins at 4:00pm.
