Meet Our Panelists:

Vanessa Paula, Co-Founder of Amiga Moms, Bilingual Educator, Mental Health Advocate

Vanessa is a 1st generation Latina striving to change the narrative from her own story from surviving to thriving, breaking the cycle one day at a time. South Bronx bred and NYCHA raised, she considers herself to be a Latina rose that grew from the concrete. She started out as yet another "statistic" from the South Bronx. She refused to accept her circumstances so she hustled hard and made her heart strong to survive a hood that was plagued by poverty, drugs, trauma, limited resources, and the elephant no one wanted to address: the mental health of our people, our community! Her experience and walks of life are vast but she believes there is a purpose to her pain. She wholeheartedly believes that people deserve to be seen, heard, loved, and valued, that's how healing truly happens. She's a mom, a bilingual educator, and a fierce supporter of her community.

Alesa Andrew-Breuer, Senior Director at PEOPLE, founder of Mommy Trapper

Alesa Andrew-Breuer, Senior Director at PEOPLE, founder of Mommy Trapper, a wife, a mother of two, a dog mom, and a homeowner. Her journey to this point has been filled with challenges, tough decisions, and unwavering faith. At the age of 23, Alesa landed her dream job as a production assistant at VH1. However, her world was turned upside down when she found out she was pregnant. She initially planned to terminate the pregnancy, because she feared she would struggle as a single mom. However, she decided to have her baby. With the help of her village and God she began the road to single motherhood.Six years later, Alesa found love and married her person who loved her and her son equally. Three years later, they were pregnant with twins, until they received devastating news one of the babies' had passed away. Without regard the doctors asked her if she wanted to make the heart-wrenching decision to terminate the remaining twin pregnancy because of the high probability he could have possible birth defects. Alesa's faith gave her the strength to move forward with the pregnancy, and 4 months later they welcomed another boy.Like many moms she struggles with toddler tantrums, postpartum body confidence, sharing parental duties, and finding time for self-care. She admits to not being perfect and is building a community for moms who want a place to keep it real. Through it all, Alesa's faith has been her anchor, guiding her through the ups and downs of motherhood and life.
