Spilling Inequali-Tea on America's 250th: How Black Women are Left Behind
About this Event
As America marks 250 years since its founding and one year since the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, we'll explore what this moment reveals about our nation's values and who is being left behind.
Black women continue to face overlapping economic challenges, from rising costs and growing debt to threats to healthcare and food assistance, yet these issues are too often discussed in isolation rather than as part of a larger economic system. Through a dynamic panel discussion, we'll examine who shapes the rules of our economy, the role tax policy plays in determining opportunity and security, and what it will take to build an economy where Black women and families can truly thrive.
Guests will participate in facilitated table conversations centered on lived experiences, policy solutions, and the practical question of what "No Woman Left Behind" actually looks like. Attendees will also have the opportunity to turn conversation into action by writing postcards to lawmakers advocating for policies that advance economic justice, opportunity, and shared prosperity.
This event is part of Oxfam’s Equalitea Project, our broader effort to spark public dialogue about how recent federal policy choices are deepening inequality.
Please note: By registering for this event, you will be added to Oxfam’s listserv to receive updates on A New Era for Black Women and related work.
