ABOUT SPIDERMONKEY BEATS
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Angel Garcia was immersed in the multi-cultural neighborhood of East Hollywood with influences ranging from Reggae, to Rock, to his traditional Mexican musical roots. Joining forces with guitarist Greg Hernandez in 1999, Mezklah hit the scene as a duo. By 2004, L.A. Weekly had nominated them as L.A.'s "Best World Music/Recombinant Artist."Mezklah means "mixture" in Spanish, and they seamlessly mixed the incongruous elements of Reggae, Psychedelic Rock, Cumbia, Son Cubano and Drum & Bass into a sound that is still as fresh today as it was back then. A hybrid sound that puts the mixed cultural influences of Los Angeles on display for the world.
With the release of their bilingual debut album "SpiderMonkey" in 2005.His solo project heralds the next phase in the musical evolution of the SpiderMonkey. Angel Garcia continues to be a pioneer in the Latin Electronica genre.
