No-Till Gardening & Composting Basics with Farmer Hayley

Join us at Solar Punk Farms for a hands-on introduction to no-till gardening and composting with our farm manager, Hayley. Trained in regenerative intensive gardening at Singing Frogs Farm, Hayley will share the practical methods she’s using to help transform a once-degraded lot into a thriving CSA vegetable and flower garden.

In this workshop, you’ll learn why minimizing soil disturbance builds fertility, structure, and resilience over time, and how compost becomes the engine of a healthy garden ecosystem. We’ll cover bed preparation, mulching strategies, compost fundamentals, and simple systems you can replicate at home, whether you’re working with raised beds, backyard plots, or larger landscapes.

Expect a mix of demonstration, discussion, and time for questions. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of how to work with living soil and the confidence to start (or refine) your own regenerative garden practice.

Things To Bring:

Bring a sun hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle. Bring garden gloves if you have them (we can provide if not).

We will provide some treats from Solar Punk Farms, but bring a lunch or snacks to eat.
