Speed Valley Chapter Tree Planting Event - Kortright Hills Natural Area
About this Event
Speed Valley Chapter of Freshwater Conservation Canada is excited to host our first tree planting event of 2026 on Saturday, June 13th, at the Kortright Hills Natural Area. This event is being hosted in partnership with the City of Guelph and is a continuation of tree planting efforts by the Speed Valley Chapter provided in 2024 and 2025.
Come and join us on Saturday, June 13th from 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM to plant native trees and shrubs along a tributary of Hanlon Creek which flows through the Kortright Hills Natural Area (see attached map for designated planting area). This event will help establish natural cover which supports wildlife and plant habitat in addition to providing shade coverage that cools surface water before entering Hanlon Creek.
Equipment, snacks and water will be available on site but please bring a reusable water bottle to fill up from the water station. Additionally, you're encouraged to bring your own work gloves if you have them and wear suitable footwear and clothing for planting activities.
If you're interested in helping out please register for the event and share with friends and family! The event will start at 9:30 AM near the designated planting area where opening remarks and instructions will be provided. Parking is available along Hazelwood Drive and Milson Crescent, shown on the attached map.
We hope to see you out there on the 13th!
