Speed Together: Explore + Create
A monthly Sunday of art, creativity, and self-guided discovery
Speed Together is a free Sunday program that focuses on ART. This program offers the opportunity for families, friends, and first-time visitors to enjoy the galleries at their own pace, take advantage of Docent supported learning, or experiment with art materials in our open studios. Look for our welcome table near the front entrance to see what's happening.
Art in the Atrium 1 – 4 PM
Visitors of all ages are invited to make art in our light filled Atrium. Tables are stocked with the materials you'll need to create your own work of art inspired by an artist or artwork in the museum. Accessible instructions are provided and a member of our creative making team is available to support. If you prefer to experiment and make your own thing, be sure to visit our open studio in Art Sparks, or try out both art experiences.
Open Studio: 2 – 4 PM in the Prototype Lab (Art Sparks)
A flexible, drop-in studio experience designed for independent exploration and creative play. Open Studio offers a self-guided environment with accessible materials, light prompts, and space to experiment freely, no instruction, no pressure. Whether you’re inspired after exploring the museum, continuing a project, trying something new, or simply looking for a quiet moment of making, our classroom becomes your space to explore, reflect, and create at your own rhythm. All ages are welcome.
Special Programming:
Craft Circle
1 – 2 PM
With historical roots in sewing and quilting circles from the 19th century, craft circles served both rural and urban communities as a space to pass down generational skills, discuss current news, and work on collective or individual projects such as knitting, mending, or sewing.
This month's Speed Together is bringing out the scissors and fabric for a community craft circle, open to all. Bring a project you're working on, invite a couple friends, and join this casual circle of crafts, conversation, and connection. The only requirement is a willingness to share what you're working on and enjoy a cup of tea if you'd like. Our circle facilitator will be available to help problem solve and brainstorm creative directions for your project. Materials are not provided, participants must bring their own.
