4 – 6 p.m.Disobedient Dreamscapes: Worlsbuilding, Time-travel and Comradeship across South Asia
Workshop with Sumona Dhakal
Künstlerhaus Bethanien
Bibliothek
Kohlfurter Straße 41-43
Aufgang A, 1st floor
As revolutionary uprisings take place across South Asia, with this workshop we dive into practices of time travel and comradeship as means of worldbuilding beyond the nation-state. As co-travelers on this revolutionary journey, you will be invited to embody a specific role through which you can share. We ask: which borders shape or haunt your dreamscapes, how does comradeship look like across fractures and obstacles, and what does your time travel kit need to stay connected and disobedient?
Based on our exchanges throughout the journey, we will create collective banners of protest and flags as carriers of memories. Painting and stitching on textile scraps, each time traveler crafts a small piece inscribed with dreams, nightmares and refusals, enlarging the disobedient dreamscapes.
6.36 – 7.36 p.m.

Readings by Aulic Anamika and
Zuneera Shah and performance by houaïda and Promona Sengupta
Künstlerhaus Bethanien
Kottbusser Straße 10

The evening unfolds with two readings followed by a performance. In Ānāpāna-Setu: The Breath of Divide, Aulic Anamika imagines a future South Asia (year 2500) dominated by a “Clean Air Corridor” that deepens class and ecological divides. Sultana, a queer ecologist from the lower zones, infiltrates this elite structure and meets Zara, an upper-class engineer. Their forbidden intimacy becomes resistance as their lungs adapt to each other’s air, reimagining the corridor not as a barrier, but a bridge uniting the subcontinent.
In A mother is the first archive, Zuneera Shah explores a 25-year dialogue between mother and daughter shaped by two migrations. When the daughter finds an unsent letter from her mother’s youth, she reconstructs its meaning through memory and imagination, questioning how utopian futures are inherited and reshaped.
In their performance, houaïda and Promona Sengupta, who embody subatomic particles—tiny but essential forces—and use sound, text, and lament to honor the unseen pioneers of science.
