Let’s read László Krasznahorkai!
This year’s Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to Hungarian novelist and screenwriter László Krasznahorkai “for his compelling and visionary oeuvre that, in the midst of apocalyptic terror, reaffirms the power of art.”
To celebrate, we invite you to a Nobel Reading Group exploring perhaps his most serene and poetic work – ”A Mountain to the North, A Lake to the South, Paths to the West, A River to the East”.
The grandson of Prince Genji wanders a timeless monastery in Kyoto, seeking a garden that has long captivated him. The monastery itself is almost untouched by time, and the garden seems to exist somewhere between reality and dream. Krasznahorkai’s novel is a meditation on the pursuit of the unobtainable and the unexpected treasures discovered along the way.
Sign up and join us for tea and cake on Wednesday 10th December at 19.00, and perhaps leave the glittering Nobel festivities in Stockholm behind for an evening of quiet wandering and literary enchantment — where the garden may be the true prize.
