About Michael:

Michael Hecht is the President & CEO of Greater New Orleans, Inc. (GNO, Inc.), the economic development agency for southeast Louisiana. His mission — and the organization's — is to build a region with a thriving economy and an excellent quality of life for everyone. Under his leadership, GNO, Inc. has been recognized as the top economic development organization in the United States by the International Economic Development Council.

Michael came to New Orleans with a track record of stepping up in crisis. Before GNO, Inc., he led Louisiana's Hurricane Katrina Small Business Recovery Program and prior to that worked for Mayor Bloomberg running New York City's post-9/11 small business recovery effort. He holds an MBA from Stanford University and an undergraduate degree from Yale University — and with family roots in Louisiana dating back to the 1830s, he's as New Orleans as it gets.
