We are On Scene FX, Ottawa’s leading Special FX Makeup Company! This hands-on one-day course is perfect for beginners and intermediate artists alike. You’ll get comfortable with the essential tools and materials of the trade, learn tips and tricks for using them, and discover how to properly choose and store your supplies — saving you time and money. I learned the hard way, and now I want to help you avoid the same pitfalls!

During the day, you’ll learn to:

• Apply pre-made prosthetics like wounds, scars, burns, and creature pieces
• Use mortician’s wax, latex, and gelatine for realistic textures and effects
• Blend edges and colors for seamless, lifelike transformations
• Create bruises, cuts, and blood effects at different stages of injury
• Use out-of-kit transformations for zombies, monsters, aged faces, and other creatures
• Layer paints and colors to achieve depth and realism
• Flick, sponge, and dab techniques for skin variation and texture
• Seal your work for durability during events or photoshoots
• Work efficiently with everyday disposables
• Build and organize your kit on a budget
• Learn professional shortcuts and tips to save time and improve results
