Hungarian-born pianist Attila Fias has been a leading force in Canadian jazz for over two decades. A true virtuoso, he is celebrated for his versatility across genres – classical, jazz, fusion, Brazilian styles, and the folk traditions of his native Hungary. Attila has released numerous recordings as a leader – from intimate small groups to expansive big bands – and appears on countless projects as a sideman and collaborator. His performances open a world of piano artistry, rich in imagination and emotion.
In this special presentation, Attila reunites with longtime musical collaborators to bring his inventive arrangements of jazz classics and original compositions to life.
Featuring renowned bassist Scott White, Toronto drummer Richard Briscoe, and Tuesday Night Jazz favourite, saxophonist Ryan Oliver!
2) The James Danderfer Quartet

The James Danderfer Quartet, featuring acclaimed New York pianist Miki Yamanaka, offers a dynamic blend of lyrical sophistication and modern swing. Led by clarinetist James Danderfer, known for his expressive sound and rich compositional voice, the ensemble explores original works and reimagined standards with warmth, nuance, and rhythmic interplay.
Miki Yamanaka, a rising star on the New York jazz scene, adds elegance and brilliance to the ensemble, creating an inspired musical dialogue. Together with the dynamic rhythm section of bassist John Lee and drummer Graham Villette, the quartet delivers a compelling performance that bridges tradition and innovation in contemporary jazz.
