Garret Vaughn will present the highly secretive Raid on Los Baños in the Philippines during World War II. Early Friday morning, February 23, 1945, a combined United States Army Airborne and Filipino guerrilla taskforce undertook what would become one of the most successful rescue operations in modern military history. 2,147 Allied civilian and military internees were liberated from an agricultural school campus turned Japanese internment camp.
This presentation will connect the story of the rescue with displays in the Warhawk Air Museum and explore why it was forgotten to history.
