On Wednesday, January 4, 2023, Silicon Valley Rainbow Rotary is pleased to host Marsha Hovey (she/her), Executive Director of CADRE who will talk about how CADRE supports non-profit disaster response and recovery efforts in the San Francisco Bay Area.
CADRE coordinates organizational preparedness planning in non-disaster times and activates to respond and provide essential services during and after a disaster. CADRE works closely with Santa Clara County’s emergency management community to build disaster resilience among service organizations through communication, coordination, and preparedness training.
About the speaker
Marsha Hovey is the Executive Director of CADRE (Collaborating Agencies’ Disaster Relief Effort) who coordinates Santa Clara County’s network of nonprofits that prepare to assist after disasters.
Marsha has been involved with public safety and community outreach for over 40 years including Santa Clara County 9-1-1 Dispatch, Santa Clara County Office of Emergency Management, and the City of Cupertino Office of Emergency Management. After she retired in 2010, she opened a successful emergency management consulting business that has supported many organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. She was on the Board of Directors of CADRE for many years before assuming the role of ED during the COVID-19 response. Marsha is a Certified Emergency Manager, a licensed ham radio operator, and has a BS in Business from San Jose State University. She is past president of the California Emergency Services Association, Santa Clara County Emergency Managers Association, and Adelante Toastmasters. Her passions are community safety education, nonprofit coordination, and problem solving.
How to Join this Event
Our meetings are run as hybrid events – you can join in person or virtually.
You can join us in person at the Billy DeFrank LGBTQ+ Community Center (938 The Alameda, San Jose, CA). We meet upstairs in one of the conference rooms – come up the stairs to the front door and you’ll be let in. You will have to show proof of vaccination to enter the center. If you’re unable to use the stairs, please let us know and we can plan to meet you at another entrance where you’ll have access to an elevator.
