About this Event
Join us a for a practical, community-focused session designed to help people navigate the health care system with more confidence. The program will cover how to prepare for medical appointments, communicate effectively with providers, ask key questions, and support loved ones during their care. We will also discuss tools for staying organized, understanding medical information, and making informed decisions. The session combines clear guidance, real-world examples, and time for audience questions. No prior medical knowledge is needed.
Aisha Langford, PhD, MPH, is an Associate Professor at Wayne State University and a health communication researcher. Her work focuses on patient–provider communication, informed decision-making, and strategies to help individuals and families navigate health care more effectively. She has taught workshops about on shared decision making for physicians and health literacy for community health workers, given community talks, and published research on how people understand medical information and make choices about their care.
