Speaker: Ford Brett, CEO PetroSkills

Topic: "The Prospects for Hot Dry Rock Geothermal (HDRG)"

Description: There is sufficient heat in the near mantel to meet humankind's energy needs for 1 million years. Exploiting that resource is not economic. Conventional geothermal resource is quite rare and not material on the global scale - but hot dry rock is below every humans feet. This talk described just how uneconomic HDRG is now, if it is even physically posssible for it to ever be economic, and what must be done to make it economic.

Speaker Bio: Ford Brett is a Professional Engineer and CEO of PetroSkills. Mr. Brett has consulted in over 45 countries, has been granted over 35 U.S. and International patents, authored over 40 technical publications, and has served as an SPE Distinguished Lecturer, and on the on the Society of Petroleum Engineers International Board of Directors as Drilling and Completions Technical Director.

In 2010, he advised the US Department of Interior as one of seven reviewers of the “30 Day Study” immediately following the BP Gulf of Mexico Tragedy.

He holds a BSE in Engineering from Duke, a Masters in Engineering from Stanford, and an MBA from Oklahoma State.
