About this Event
It's a show where we let sketch teams and solo performers try some shit out!
Some will be good, some will be bad but it will all be weird and new and that's what makes it fun!
It's experimental sketch at it's finest! Come on, you know you need a spanking.
This Monday, we have: SHAME-FULL
An eccentric and fast-paced character and storytelling solo show from the most ashamed woman on Earth!
Nina never asked to be born, and now that she’s here, she’s spent her entire life feeling bad about it!!!! Through a fast-paced hybrid of intimate storytelling and characters, Nina explores the areas of shame that she has experienced as a woman who is forever trying to escape her own reality. In this autobiographical hour-long show, Nina introduces the audience to different parts of herself that all have the running through-line of shame: her childhood obsession with suffering and martyrdom, being a prolific fanfiction writer at 13, and her subsequent fall from fanfic grace, getting “saved” at age 16 and being a born-again Christian until age 23, and the effect said Christianity had on her sexuality, and more.
“Shame-Full” is a hilarious, vulnerable and eccentric solo show from a neurotic Latina that asks the question: are we born with shame, or are we taught to feel it?
Written & Performed by Nina Concepción (UCB's Asssscat, 9-1-1 Lone Star, Shining Vale, Tacoma FD)
Directed by Haley Hepworth (UCBNY, JFL's New Faces)
