About this Event
Join us for the first annual SpaceBurgh festival on October 19th in Market Square, Pittsburgh. This one-day event will feature NASA astronaut Woody Hoburg, highlighting Pittsburgh's role in space exploration. SpaceBurgh brings together families, space enthusiasts, and curious minds to explore the universe.
Market Square will be divided into three themed areas:
- Space Science/Astronomy: Explore telescopes and hands-on activities from the University of Pittsburgh, Allegheny Observatory, and Carnegie Mellon University.
- Robotics/Space Engineering: See demonstrations from the Mars Robotics Association and Astrobotic, showcasing the latest in robotics and space engineering.
- Space Culture: Visit the Authors Alley, enjoy cosplay, and join in on the lightsaber battle area for a fun cultural experience.
Discover the latest in robotics and space technology with interactive demos, and learn from space scientists, astronomers, and engineers leading the charge into humanity's future among the stars. From the Allegheny Observatory to Moonshot Museum, you'll have the chance to connect with experts and experience hands-on activities.
Food vendors will serve a variety of bites, local brewers will craft special space-themed brews, and sci-fi panels will discuss fictional universes and their impact on real-world science. Live music will add to the atmosphere as we celebrate Pittsburgh's role as an emerging space city.
SpaceBurgh is family-friendly, educational, and free for everyone. Whether you're a future astronaut or a science fiction fan, SpaceBurgh is the best place to learn about space in the city this fall. Don't miss your chance to be part of Pittsburgh's journey to the stars!
