Space Technology Innovation Masterclasses: User Centred Design

Background

The Satellite Applications Catapult, in partnership with the UK Space Agency, is launching a series of in-person Space Technology Innovation Masterclasses, where sector experts will share tools and techniques for designing with space technology and support you to explore these using your own services as examples.

As part of the development of these masterclasses, the Catapult will be running three trial sessions where we will invite businesses to participate in the beta versions and give feedback afterwards that can be incorporated into the final versions.

This session - User Centred Design for your business

Are you looking for strategies to better understand your users? Are you unsure how to identify the right part of the problem to solve with your technology?

At the Satellite Applications Catapult, we employ a User Centred Design (UCD) approach to space enabled service development. What does that mean? Good question! It’s all about putting the user at the heart of your product, technology or service in order to de-risk its development. It’s a process that will make sure that you build the right thing and build the thing right.

In this interactive class aimed at small to medium-sized businesses in the UK tech and space sectors, members of the UCD Team from the Satellite Applications Catapult will show you how to capture the critical information that will help you create a value proposition with competitive edge.

The class will combine presentations on User Centred Design approaches with practical activities that your organisation can use to develop their understanding of their users, their users’ requirements and how to incorporate these into the service or product development cycle.

Who is this for?

For SMEs, either space or non-space sector, who are looking to transform ideas and data into real products or services.

Classes are free to access and will be held in-person. This session is open to up to 5 businesses and we expect that for any business that applies, between 2-3 members of the business would attend for maximum value.
