The Rocket City Curling Club is excited to announce that our third annual Space Race 5U Bonspiel will be held on April 5 – 7, 2024 in Huntsville, AL. This bonspiel is open to all players with 5 or fewer years of eligibility. Teams can be made up of any combination of men and women.This year’s Space Race will also be a Qualifier Event for USA Curling’s 2024 Five-and-Under National Championship. The winner will be invited to be one of 24 teams completing at the 5U National Championship on April 24-28, 2024, at Chaska Curling Center in Chaska, MN.
In addition to competitive 5U teams, we highly encourage new teams to consider making The Space Race your first bonspiel! We think that once you’ve attended your first bonspiel, you’ll be hooked on curling for life!
Up to 32 team spots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The price is $400 per team. This includes a 3 game guarantee for the event, with all meals provided.
We also have the option to Register as an Individual. The price is $100 per individual player, and we’ll assign you to a team of Free Agents.
On Friday night, we’ll also be hosting a just-for-fun Shorties mini-tournament. Never played shorties before? Trust us… it’s a BLAST! (Ha! Rocket joke.) Check out the shorties rules here.
And on Saturday night we’ll have our Basket Drawing. Rocket City club members will be putting together a bunch of great gift baskets that we’ll raffle off. If your team would like to bring a gift basket to throw into the mix, we’d love to have it!

Thursday:
Meet & Greet reception at The Brass Tap, 933 Bob Wallace Ave SW, Huntsville, AL 35801
Great craft beer, great food, wine, cocktails, etc.
Starting at around 7:30 PM or 8:00 PM or so
Totally informal. Just pop in for drinks or dinner at one of our sponsors, and hang with your fellow curlers.
Friday:
Breakfast provided 8:15 AM – 10:00 AM
Draws at 9:00 AM, 11:20 AM and 1:40 PM
Lunch provided 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Draws at 4:40 PM and 7:00 PM
Dinner provided 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM, featuring BBQ, pasta and tuna melts prepared by our club members. We’ll also have vegetarian and gluten-free options.
Moon Rocks Shorties Mini-Tournament beginning 9:00 PM or so.
Saturday:
Breakfast provided 8:15 AM – 10:00 AM
Draws at 9:00 AM, 11:20 AM and 1:40 PM
