About this Event
SP360 Lambeth is part of Soul Purpose 360, a national Black women’s empowerment social enterprise. Its mission is to motivate & inspire confidence in Black women to help them overcome challenges and contribute positively to their communities through their own personal growth.
We host monthly workshops on the 3rd Thursday of each month. They run for one hour, from 7.30-8.30pm. The rest of the time is dedicated to networking.
These gatherings are part of an empowerment programme where members choose the session topics that they believe will offer support, information, guidance and advice they need for personal growth and community enrichment. To learn more visit: www.soulpurpose360.co.uk/Lambeth or email us, [email protected].
For our November workshop, we're excited to be joined by award-winning Lekia Lée, founder of Project Embrace, for a workshop to help you to care for your hair and your self image.
Lekia Lée is a former broadcast journalist turned passionate advocate for tackling Afro hair discrimination. In 2010, inspired by her then 5 year old daughter, she founded Project Embrace to raise the awareness around narrow beauty standards and the impact that has on Black women’s hair and mental health. Project Embrace is a leading advocacy group and platform dedicated to championing diversity and inclusivity in beauty standards and representation.
Lekia speaks on inclusion, representation and psychological impact of narrow beauty standards and other related topics, at various events for brands and individual companies; she has appeared on BBC World News, ITV London News, BBC Stories, PinAfrica, talkRadio, BBC 5 live radio, BBC London Radio, Huffington Post, Washington Post, BBC's The One Show, Stylist and Glamour Magazine amongst many others.
