About this Event

IBM Canada, in partnership with IPAC Alberta, is hosting Sovereign Data: Opportunities and Risks for the Alberta Public Sector — an evening focused on one of the most pressing digital governance issues facing provinces across Canada: data sovereignty.

In a period defined by geopolitical tension, evolving federal AI policy, and rapid cloud adoption across government, the question of data control, ownership, and jurisdiction has shifted from a technical consideration to a strategic policy imperative.

Designed for both technology and policy audiences, the event will feature a 30-minute presentation delivered by IBM Canada’s public sector team at the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (AMII) building, followed by a networking reception hosted at Von's Steakhouse. The event is free to attend, with registration beginning at 4:30 p.m. and the event starting at 5:00 p.m.
