Southgate Swing

Southgate Swing is a monthly swing-dance club held on the second Wednesday of the month at The Southgate Social Club, Chase Side, London N14 5BP. The swing nights start with a dance class from some of London's leading Lindy-Hop and Balboa dance teachers, followed by a social dance featuring live bands or DJs playing the classic swing songs of the 1930s, 40s & 50s, with dancers from all over London ripping it up on the club’s fabulous wooden dance floor! The club has an exciting programme scheduled for 2024.

This month we have a Hollywood Lindy class from one of the leading swing-dance teachers in London - Claire Austin, followed by social dancing to live band 'Minnie & The Moochers'.

Claire Austin is the driving force behind the London Swing Cats and has had an extended career as dancer, teacher, performer, choreographer and promoter in the capital. Claire is a former UK Lindy Hop Champion and has been teaching dance in London, across the UK and internationally, for over 25 years. She has performed & choreographed in films and the West End Theatre. She has danced on television many times including with major artists such as CeeLo Green, Wanda Jackson, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, and was placed 4th in two World Lindy Hop Championships (the highest ranking of any UK competitor).

Please note, the entrance to the club's music room is off Crown Lane (The Chase Side address is the members-only entrance to the club). If arriving by tube, take the left-hand exit from the station, cross the road and pass through the archway with the clock above it, turn right into Crown Lane, the club entrance is 100 yards on your right.
