Southern Miss Clarinet Day 2027
About this Event
Join The University of Southern Mississippi's Clarinet Studio for Southern Miss Clarinet Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the clarinet and connecting clarinetists of all ages and experience levels!
This year’s featured guest artist is Dr. Amanda Morrison, an accomplished performer, educator, and advocate for new music. Dr. Morrison serves on the faculty at Slippery Rock University, where she teaches applied clarinet and directs the Clarinet Choir. She is a Vandoren Artist-Clinician, Event Director of Steel City Clarinet Day, and an active performer and clinician who has presented at ClarinetFest and numerous music conferences and universities. Her work includes commissioning and premiering new music, exploring extended techniques and EFX clarinet, and performing with several chamber ensembles.
Throughout the day, participants will have opportunities to:
- Hear clarinet recitals and performances
- Observe a master class with Dr. Morrison
- Learn from University of Southern Mississippi clarinet faculty and students
- Try out clarinets, mouthpieces, reeds, and other equipment
- Explore exhibits from clarinet and music vendors
- Meet and connect with other clarinetists from across the region
- Discover new ideas and inspiration for playing the clarinet
Whether you are a middle school or high school student, college student, band director, private teacher, professional musician, or clarinet enthusiast, Southern Miss Clarinet Day is an opportunity to learn, play, explore, and celebrate the clarinet in a welcoming and inspiring environment.
The Southern Miss Clarinet Day is sponsored by The University of Southern Mississippi.
We look forward to welcoming clarinetists to Hattiesburg for a fantastic day of music, learning, and all things clarinet!
