Our students have experienced colorful backdrops as the camp has been hosted at various locations throughout the Southeast San Diego community.
2018 - The Gathering Space at 50th/Imperial AveHome of the Lincoln Park Mural
2021 - Kali Artist Konnect at 45th and Market StreetHome of the murals in every direction and a performance stage.
Drawing and painting are the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the topics we'll cover.

Oya Art Gallery & Boutique - 6 Hensley StreetOpened in 2021 by Kim Phillips-Pea with Southeast Art Team for artists to connect, create, work and thrive.Located on the second floor of the historic Clementine McDuff Elks Lodge which has been in the community for 100 years.The entrance to the gallery can be found at the top of the piano staircase located on Commercial Street. Art camp will be held in the gallery on the second floor of the building.
Murals, mosiacs, creating jewelry and face painting are on our list of exciting topics to explore.
Week 5 Students will participate in a Cricut Design Workshop where they will learn how to design and create their own t-shirt.
Science and technology play a huge role when it comes to art and we're going to discuss how it all relates to one another.Who is Kim Phillips-Pea?Art Director - Southeast Art TeamCurator - Oya Art Gallery & BoutiqueBorn and raised in the Southeast San Diego communiy, Kim attended San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts and worked at the Walt Disney Studios for nearly 10 years before returning to San Diego. At that time face painting and gaining access to opportunities for artists to thrive became Kim's favorite thing.
Who is Southeast Art Team?Southeast Art Team is a group made up of local artists born and raised in the Southeast San Diego community. From murals to public art projects, each individual artist has played a vital role in changing the visual landscape of our community. From the Diamond Street Festival to the MLK Day Community Celebration, the art team has provided services to the youth in this community for years.The team has been featured in local newspapers including the San Diego Union Tribute, Voice and Viewpoint, SWC Sun Newspaper and on various local news outlets such as KPBS, KUSI, ABC, NBC 7 and Fox 5 San Diego in February 2023 for Black History Month.
Southeast Art Team was featured on NBC7 when we worked with legendary Artivist Mario Torero to restore the historic Civil Rights mural located at 32nd Street and Imperial Avenue in Logan Heights.
