Southbank Highlights: A Walking Tour
About this Event
From medieval monasteries to Shakespeare's stage, London's Southbank is packed with stories waiting to be uncovered. This guided walk follows the Thames through one of the capital's most historic and vibrant neighbourhoods, revealing the people, places and events that have shaped the city for over 2,000 years.
We follow the riverside past the HMS Belfast, one of Britain's most famous surviving warships, before exploring the atmospheric streets of old Southwark. Along the way we visit Southwark Cathedral, a place of worship for more than a thousand years, and discover the remains of Winchester Palace, once one of the grandest medieval residences in England.
Our route also takes us past the notorious Clink Pr*son, the world-famous Globe Theatre, and the striking former power station that is now Tate Modern.
