Free concert of classical music offered by students from Southampton University (United Kingdom)
About this Event

The Southampton University Symphony Orchestra is widely recognised as one of the leading student orchestras in the UK.

The orchestra seeks to provide students with the opportunity to study and perform some of the most challenging symphonic repertoire. They cater both for members seeking to pursue careers in the music profession, as well as those wishing to continue and develop their performance skills whilst completing degrees in non-musical subjects. They take on a full professional programme each term, and repertoire highlights in the last couple of years have included symphonies by Mahler, Sibelius and Tchaikovsky. In addition to the four concerts a year, members enjoy a variety of socials and a European tour.

Southampton University Symphonic Wind Orchestra (SUSWO) is the only auditioned wind orchestra at the University of Southampton and is open to all woodwind, brass, and percussion players. Originally founded by woodwind and brass players at the University, they are a friendly ensemble that welcomes talented musicians from across the University. They play a varied and challenging repertoire to a high standard, giving members the opportunity to perform regularly as part of a talented ensemble.
