Please note that this is an online event.A series of monthly online history talks hosted on Zoom and led by Andy Skinner (Learning & Engagement Officer at SeaCity Museum and Tudor House & Garden). All of the talks are designed to be fun, accessible and rooted in the history and archaeology of the city. Each talk will last approximately 1 hour.
Southampton played a monumental role in the embarkation of troops and equipment during Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Normandy which began on 6th June 1944: D-Day. Over the next year three and a half million service personnel passed through the port of Southampton, along with 250,000 vehicles. This was more than any other British port during the Second World War. This final talk in the โSouthampton Through Timeโ series will unpick the vital part the town played in the history of โThe Greatest Dayโ.
Our prices are based on helping as many people to access our talks as possible. The more you choose to pay, the more people will be able to come and enjoy the same excellent programme of informative and entertaining talks. We thank you for any additional support you are able to offer us.
