Meet at Ladies of the Lake (4101 South Bay Drive) Off road parking is available
Join us for a few hours of birding at the peak of the spring arrivals in Whatcom County. We will explore 2 areas in South Whatcom County. We will meet at Ladies of the Lake, a Whatcom Land Trust property at the south end of Lake Whatcom. We will spend up to an hour along the road and Lake Whatcom listening and looking for a variety of birds - vireos, warblers, swallows, flycatchers, thrush, tanagers…to name a few.
We will then carpool in as few cars as possible a few miles east to Wickersham and Innis Creek Roads. We will spend the remaining 2 hours there and then return to our cars at Ladies of the Lake by 10 am. Parking is limited in this second area, which is why we will need to carpool. There will be a cacophony of sounds and many opportunities to learn birdsong as well as see birds along Wickersham and Innis Creek Roads. The trees will be fully leafed out....so we will focus on listening, and looking of course!
The diversity of habitat and environments will provide us with a wide variety of bird species. We will be walking on a paved road and the distance we cover will be around 2 miles. An outhouse is available just across from the Ladies of the Lake property.
We will start promptly at 7 am, so please be on time.
If we can use your vehicle for carpooling from Ladies of the Lake to Wickersham, please let us know.
