About this Event
The South West Anti-Racist Education Forum is a collaboration between schools, universities and civil society organisations in Bristol and the surrounding areas.
This one-day, in-person event has been arranged for the purposes of:
- Supporting professional learning for anti-racist education
- Sharing research and learning resources
- Strengthening connections between individuals and organisations working in this space
Presenters include:

- Professor Leon Tikly (University of Bristol)
- Justin Vafadari (UWE)
- Cashan Campbell (SLT, Fairfield High School/Excalibur)
- Tanisha Hicks-Beresford (Citizenship Teacher, Bristol Cathedral Choir School)
- Malcolm Richards (UWE)
- Marie-Annick Gournet (University of Bristol)
- CARGO
The event includes a panel discussion on the recruitment, retention and progression of Black teachers in schools, and subject and cross-subject curriculum development workshops.
There is no charge for this event. Staff with curriculum and/or EDI leadership responsibilities at state schools in the South West can apply for £100 towards cover compensation for their school. An application can be submitted when registering for a ticket on Eventbrite.
