About this Event
You are invited to join the Charlotte Urban Design Center (UDC) and Artwalks for the South End Placemaking Walking Tour! We will explore the South End's Gold District and learn the principles of placemaking while seeing how art and the public realm shape urban development.
The tour will start with a short presentation on the principles of urban design and placemaking by UDC staff at the South End Studio. Afterwards, walk with the UDC, Artwalks, and a special guest artist as they lead a 90 minute walking tour around South End, look at exciting art and development projects, and see how placemaking impacts the built environment. Refreshments will be provided prior to the walking tour.
Schedule:
- 6:00pm: Meet at the Charlotte Urban Design Center at 1507 Camden Rd for a brief presentation on the Principles of Urban Design and Placemaking
- 6:30pm: Walking tour begins
- 8:00pm: Arrive back at the Urban Design Center
We do not have dedicated parking at the Urban Design Center. We encourage you to walk, bike, or take the light rail as we are steps away from the Bland Street Light Rail Station. There is two-hour paid parking on Camden Road and other adjacent streets. Check out the SouthEnd parking map for more information.
