South End Urban Design Walking Tour

You are invited to join the Charlotte Urban Design Center (UDC) and Charlotte Center City Partners (CCCP) for the South End Urban Design Walking Tour. We will explore the South End and learn the principles of urban design while seeing how urban development has shaped the public realm.

The tour will start with a short presentation on the principles of urban design by UDC staff at the SouthEnd Studio. Afterwards, walk with UDC and CCCP staff as they lead an hour-long walking tour around the South End, look at exciting development projects, and see how urban design impacts the built environment. During the tour, we will stop at a local business where we will give all attendees a free treat before heading back to the Urban Design Center.

• 6:00pm: Meet at the Charlotte Urban Design Center at 1507 Camden Rd
• 6:15pm: Presentation on the Principles of Urban Design
• 6:30pm: Walking tour begins
• 8:00pm: Event ends. Arrive back at the Urban Design Center

We do not have dedicated parking at the Urban Design Center. We encourage you to walk, bike, or take the light rail as we are steps away from the Bland Street Light Rail Station. There is two-hour paid parking on Camden Road and other adjacent streets. Check out the SouthEnd parking map for more information.
