Join food historian Dr Alia Amir for an engaging journey through the rich culinary heritage of British South Asian communities.
Discover the stories behind much-loved recipes, explore how food has shaped culture and identity, and celebrate the flavours that have become an important part of Camden's history.
Alia will be joined in conversation by Dina Begum, author of Made in Bangladesh, and Saliha Khan, founder of condiment brand Third Culture Kat, for a fascinating discussion about food, heritage and community.
After the talk, enjoy a tasting of delicious South Asian dishes prepared by local restaurants before taking a self-guided stroll along the iconic Drummond Street – one of London's most celebrated destinations for South Asian cuisine.
Discover the street's remarkable food heritage, from the original home of the world-renowned Patak's brand to beloved long-standing businesses including Ambala Confectionery (1965), Diwana Bhel Poori House (1971), Gupta's Sweets and Savouries (1979), Ravi Shankar Bhelpoori House (1982) and Chutney's (1982), each playing an important role in Camden's rich culinary story.
Donations from South Asian Flavours ticket sales will help fund Henna Asian Women’s Group's weekly Monday Chai Club, which brings together South Asian women - particularly those aged 65 and over - to combat loneliness, build friendships, and support their mental wellbeing.
