About this Event

Dr Alia Amir will be delivering an engaging and informative food talk, taking participants on a delectable journey through the rich culinary traditions of British South Asian communities.

By highlighting the history and cultural significance of locally grown recipes, she aims to foster a deeper appreciation for the diverse flavours that have become an integral part of Camden and the region's gastronomic landscape.

Alia will be joined in conversation by Dina Begum, author of Made in Bangladesh, and Saliha Khan, founder of condiment brand Third Culture Kat.

Following the talk and in-conversation, the audience can sample some South Asian Flavours with food supplied by local restaurants. They can then walk down Drummond Street, soaking up the heritage of South Asian cuisine which made the street famous, including the original shop of world renowned Indian cooking paste and sauces brand Patak's, as well as famous long-standing food shops and restaurants such as Ambala confectionery (1965), Diwana Bhel Poori House (1971), Gupta's Sweets and Savouries (1979), Ravi Shankur Bhelpoori House (1982) and Chutney's (1982).
