About this Event
The new generation of winemakers in South Africa, many of whom have traveled and worked all over the world, are innovating and improving both in the vineyards and in the cellars. It is a very exciting time for South African wines, which have improved dramatically in recent decades.
During this class, we are excited to be joined by winemaker Ginny Povall at Botanica Wines and importer Pascal Schildt of Pascal Schildt Selections.
Botanica Wines was founded in 2009 by owner and self-taught winemaker Ginny Povall, American born, who fell in love with the beautiful Cape Winelands, purchased Protea Heights farm in Stellenbosch’s Devon Valley and relocated to the southern tip of Africa in 2008. Established in the late 1940s, Protea Heights was the first farm in South Africa to cultivate indigenous protea flowers commercially.
Pascal Schildt Selections imports wines from the most compelling producers of South Africa. The portfolio consists of family-owned and operated wineries, which all pursue quality over quantity. Pascal brings their spirit to his clients across the United States.
