About the Class:
Sourdough Cinnamon Buns!
Everyone gets excited about Sourdough loaves and it's easy to understand why but, what about all the delicious and nourishing food you can make with sourdough discard? Savory or Sweet, the possibilities are endless! In this hands on class, devoted to your sour dough discard, you will learn the step but step process of making hand made sourdough cinnamon buns!! In class each participant will have the opportunity to roll their own recipe of cinnamon buns to take home and bake the next morning. As well, you will receive the gift of a developed sourdough starter along with a detailed recipe booklet complete with process images, the recipe, and additional resources to support you on your sourdough journey. Naturally, class will conclude with a tasting of sourdough cinnamon buns baked fresh in the MAP kitchen. The class is great for beginners or for those looking to expand their understanding of sourdough baking.
About the Instructor:
My name is Ashley Smith and I am a mamma, artist, health enthusiast, homesteader, mentor, and a self taught cook who loves to share what I have learned and practice with others. I believe cooking is a sacred process of daily life that is both practical and magical. I also believe that practices involving food are a doorway towards our individual and collective healing. Gathering and cooking together is a way to experience joy, connection, and gain confidence and skills. Working contemplatively in the garden, kitchen, and at the dinner table with food is a way to deepen our relationship with the food we eat, ourselves, others, and the land we live on.
About the Venue
Parking: Starting at 6 pm on Thursdays, you cannot park on the south side of Massachusetts Avenue (the same side as MAP). The parking rule changes right at 6, and there is no parking available right in front of MAP. There is usually parking available on side streets, Shields and Brayton (1 side of each street).
MAP Thursday Market: MAP will be hosting their Thursday Farmhouse Market from 3-6pm. They have a selection of fresh produce, as well as eggs, herbs, mushrooms, honey, flowers, preserved goods, beauty products, and more! Feel free to come early to check it out!
