About this Event
What does freedom sound like? During the Civil Rights Movement, music was a powerful weapon for change—but those freedom songs had roots stretching back centuries. From spirituals to praise songs, from chants to protests, the sounds of freedom and liberty have evolved over time, yet they remain deeply connected. This February, join us for "Sounds of Freedom: A Musical Journey of Liberation," an educational musical production that traces the evolution of protest, praise, and liberation music through the lens of African American creativity and resilience. The performance is powered by the African American Research Library & Cultural Center in Fort Lauderdale, in partnership with Broward County Public Schools. We'll welcome thousands of Broward County students while also offering performances open to all audiences. Experience the journey February 18-21.
